Ms. O'Neil's Health Class

Nutrition

This page shows the assigments for the week of Dec. 6th through Dec.10th.

Monday: Food Pyramid

Take a quick pre-test to see how much you already know about nutrition. Find pictures of foods to go in each level of the food pyramid (magazines, internet, and newspaper). Print or cut the pictures out and paste onto the food pyramid provided in class. When pyramid is full with the correct amount of servings in each level, then go play this interactive game using some of the foods that are in the pyramid you made. Read the directions at the beginning of the game to know what you are supposed to accomplish.
**The object of the game is to create a balanced meal plan for a day and have enough fuel to blast off.

Tuesday: Reading Labels

Play this interactive game about reading nutrition labels. This will prepare you for tomorrows lesson.

Wednesday: Nutritional Labels

Here is a list of foods that you will need to find some of the nutritional values on the nutritional label for. Use the internet, magazines, grocery ads, and any other resource to find the information needed. You will need to print or cut out the label for some of the items. (NOTE: Make sure you write what food the label is for)
Using the labels either printed or cut out, make a meal under 400 calories.
